About
Simple Pictures
Founded by Caroline Mills and Yllari Herrouet, Simple Pictures is a production company whose goal is to highlight the extraordinary within the ordinary. We believe in the power of simplicity, and produce stories that reflect real people.
Caroline Victoria Mills
As a child, Caroline was frequently told to stop being "so aggressive" and start being more “ladylike.” Perhaps this is why she now gravitates toward stories about fast-talking women who lead boldly and interrupt often. She is determined to prove that even sarcastic assholes can have hearts of gold. Caroline is a writer, director, and co-founding producer of Simple Pictures.
Caroline graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts with a drama degree, but, being a control freak by nature, she quickly found her true passion was behind the camera. In 2019, she wrote, directed, and produced her first short film, Loves Me Not. Since then, she has worked as a Reader for the Bull City International Film Festival, and as a Reader and Administrator for the Wheaton Film Festival outside of Washington, DC. Most recently, she worked as a Creative Assistant for the Los Angeles based production company Sixth Sense Productions. She credits her experience at Sixth Sense with giving her the industry insight to confidently approach running a production company of her own.
Yllari Herrouet
Yllari is a Peruvian born, NYC based producer who graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2018. Coming from an artistic family, she fell in love with the way movies were made at a young age. Her hyperactivity, hustle mentality, and passion for storytelling quickly made her realize she wanted to make producing her bread and butter.
Yllari produced and served as Production Designer on Simple Pictures’ first short film, Loves Me Not. Afterwards, she worked as a Creative Assistant in development for Sixth Sense Productions. These days she freelances in New York City, most recently having worked on the NBCUniversal pilot, Blank Slate, and the indie feature, Queen of Knives. In her free time, you can usually find her arguing with strangers in bars about well-executed concept films.
